Our beautiful daughter, sister and friend Nicola, died whilst out celebrating her 20th birthday with friends. Nicola suddenly collapsed and could not be resuscitated.
Nicola did not die from alcohol, or drugs, Nicola’s heart suddenly stopped beating. Why? We do not know, we are still searching for an answer. As to why a beautiful young girl who was so loud, vibrant, gorgeous, funny and so full of life die without reason.

The Trust dedicated in Nicola’s memory, will help to raise funds for Papworth Hospital,- Researching Sudden Cardiac Death in young people.
We are the only charity who is helping to fund research specifically  in the under 35's.

Thank you all at Melbourn Hub for allowing me to have a

Spurs legends check in for a Royston football bonanza in memory of Nicola
Some of the Spurs legends (pictured) will be playing.
Some of Tottenham Hotspur’s famed former players are booked in for an all-singing all-dancing charity match in Royston.

The Spurs Legends versus The Nicola Emmerson Trust match will see the likes of Darren Anderton, Tony Galvin, Justin Edinburgh, Chris Perry and David Howells kicking into action against some local footie hopefuls at Royston Football Club.
Julie Emmerson, who set up the trust in memory of her daughter Nicola who died of sudden cardiac death in 2007, said: “We did a Spurs Legends match about five years ago and it was such an amazing day. We want to recreate that fun but with a few extra bits.
“It’s a bittersweet feeling organising something like this. It keeps Nicola’s memory alive and raises awareness and funds research into sudden cardiac death.”
Julie comes from a family of Spurs fans – her hubby Steve is a great supporter and Nicola wasn’t into football unless the Lilywhites were playing.
Craft shop owner and fan Laura Whitford will be singing at the event, and her son Jeremy will be leading the mascots. Her father has been a life-long supporter and is looking forward to buying Jeremy his kit as he has never had a son to buy one for.
Laura said: “I had a season ticket for Spurs in the late 80s, watching lots of the players who will be there in May. I went with my dad, grandad and cousin when I was a teenager.”
Julie said: “Laura is a great singer, although she threatened to sing Diamond Lights, so I had to politely decline.”

THANK YOU
All who helped and those who supported our football charity match

SKY NEWS 3RD APRIL 2015

Cardiac Arrest: Hidden Killer Of The Young
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the biggest killers of young people but experts say it is difficult to detect - even after death.

By Becky Johnson, North of England Correspondent
The number of young people who die as a result of sudden cardiac arrest is higher than official figures suggest, experts have told Sky News.
Latest figures estimate 12 people under the age of 35 die every week in the UK from an undiagnosed heart condition.
However, leading cardiologist Professor Sanjay Sharma thinks the real figures are around 25% higher.
He adds: "I reckon there are probably about 16 deaths per week in the UK from this so-called sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.

Here are a few notes from Dr Grace taken from 'Over to you' - Huntingdon Radio show / Huntingdon Crier
According to Dr Grace, approximately 70,000 people die from SCD in the UK each year, and 450,000 world wide.
Dr Grace said: “It is mainly older males who have a history of coronary heart disease. In young healthy people like Nicola it is less common.
“The effectiveness of The Nicola Emmerson Trust helps to identify people at risk, who need to have a defibrillator fitted to prevent a Sudden Cardiac Death.

“Although we do receive grants, the trust helps to keep the research going by filling in the gaps in between.
“It enables us to retain a researcher for day to day financial support.”

"All of the money raised will be used to fund research into the causes and prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death, and the trust will continue to focus on raising funds to help others so more families do not have to go through what we have.”
